Lies Between Us
‘Will they ever learn the truth?’
Today I am delighted to be joining Ronnie Turner on tour with her debut novel, Lies Between Us. Just released with HQ Digital, it is described as ‘a gripping psychological thriller for fans of Clare Mackintosh, Shari Lapena and Lisa Jewell’
Ronnie Turner is also one of my fellow book blogging buddies so it’s really exciting to see her have her first book published.
I would like to thank HQ Digital and Ronnie Turner for my ARC of LIes Between Us and I have my unbiased and voluntary review for you all today..
About the Book:
The past is always watching . . .
Three people, leading very different lives, are about to be brought together – with devastating consequences . . .
John has a perfect life, until the day his daughter goes missing.
Maisie cares for her patients, but hides her own traumatic past.
Miller should be an innocent child, but is obsessed with something he can’t have.
They all have something in common, though none of them know it – and the truth won’t stay hidden for long . . .
My Review:
Miller is a creepy, twisted and very strange individual. From a young age it is very evident that Miller is not well. His views on the world, his ability to control and his coldness make for a very chilling character. Ronnie Turner introduces us to Miller from a young age as we witness his ability to manipulate situations to suit his own agenda. He is obviously a young boy with issues, issues that are left unattended to, allowing him to further develop his influence over others.
John Graham has it all. His daughter Bonnie is the apple of his eye and with his wife, Jules, by his side, life couldn’t get any sweeter. John is a writer whose success has been slow to come. But now with his latest novel, doing well in the charts, John is happy. But one day all this changes for John, when Bonnie disappears from their home. Jules and John are distraught, desperate and very frightened. Who would do such a thing? Why would anyone take Bonnie? What do they want? With the police involved, horrifying images are sent to Jules and John, images of Bonnie. But on the back of each image, there is a message. This person is someone who knows them, someone who knows about John. Bonnie has been made to sign these images so they know she is still alive…but for how long?
Maisie Green is an ICU nurse. For her own private reasons, Maisie chose ICU as her specialty. With the relatives of loved ones in need of comfort at all times, Maisie is very capable of providing this care and her work with both patient and next of kin is very important to her. Maisie lives with Ben. They have a good life, a very busy working life but they always make time for each other and share their hopes and dreams for their future together. But Maisie has a secret that not even Ben knows and Maisie hides this, with guilt, as every moment passes. A patient is brought into Maisie’s ward, a married man, Tim, who had been attacked and discovered on a street unconscious. His wife Heidi is by his bedside and Maisie finds their situation very emotional. It’s playing on her mind and she finds herself closely observing Heidi. Maisie asks no questions but makes Heidi aware that she is there for her if she needs a friend, a shoulder….
What do all these people have in common? What connects their stories?
Ronnie Turner has written quite a complex story that moves swiftly between different timelines. As the stories of all these individuals weave their way in and out of the plot-line, it is very important, as a reader, that you keep your focus as you move through the story.
The dates are very central to Lies Between Us, as each chapter informs the reader of which decade/year an incident takes place. I have to admit I did get somewhat frustrated, but that could be down to my ‘very old’ eReader. I found it a little confusing but, I think for me, paperback format would immediately solve that issue.
Overall Lies Between Us is an impressive debut from a writer to watch. It gives us an insight into the rather deviant mind that Ronnie Turner possesses, a rather scary place indeed!!!!

I agree, there is something wrong with Miller! Loved discovering those characters!
He’s one nasty individual. Thanks Meggy for dropping by!
