The happy couple unwrap the gifts behind the doors of Gran’s special advent calendar and polish Molly’s apartment until it shines with Christmas cheer.
But as Molly counts down the days to the Secret Santa gift exchange at the Regency Grand Hotel, she notices some curious changes in Juan Manuel. Why does he keep telling tales about his whereabouts? Why does it feel like there’s a mystery unfolding around her, without any clues?
Little does Molly know it’ll be a 5* Christmas at the Regency Grand Hotel…
[ My Review ]
The Mistletoe Mystery by Nita Prose publishes October 10th with Harper Collins. A novella, it is described as ‘a festive mystery’, Book #2.5 in the Molly the Maid series.
Working in the Regency Grand Hotel at Christmas-time is extra special for both guest and employee as the hotel pulls out all the stops to ensure that everyone’s desires and needs are pre-empted at all times. For Molly, and her boyfriend Juan Manuel who also works there, it is particularly busy. But between the rushed moments they find time to enjoy each others’ company. Molly misses her grandmother terribly at Christmas time but Juan Manuel has filled a hole in her heart and his obvious love for Molly carries her through the difficult days.
Molly and Juan Manuel have a very gentle and loving relationship. They have no need for grand gestures. They value each others’ company and crave little else. They laugh at the little things and they share everything. They comfort each other when needed and they truly care and value each other. Molly has had a challenging life with a personality that can rub some people up the wrong way but with Juan Manuel she can relax and be the person she is meant to be – herself.
When Juan Manuel starts to behave a little out of character, Molly begins to get suspicious imagining all sorts of scenarios. Balancing the demands of the festive season with a mind that just won’t now settle causes Molly some distress. Why is her beloved boyfriend acting so strange? As Molly tries to figure out what’s going on, Christmas Day gets closer and closer.
The Mistletoe Mystery is a whimsical and light-hearted tale. In many ways it’s not really a mystery but it might just get you thinking about the spirit of Christmas and how uncomplicated it can be if we just step back and take a little time to appreciate what we already have. A sweet novella to enjoy with a cup of hot chocolate as the evenings close in.
