“We live at a crux time, where burning ecological issues have never been so urgently in need of attention.
As we grapple with matters of loss and destruction, it can be easy to lose sight of the natural bounty that exists all around us”
Wild Embrace – Connecting to the Wonder of Ireland’s Natural World
Wild Embrace by Anja Murray just published March 9th with Hachette Ireland and is a beautifully crafted piece of work. I was very lucky to receive a copy of this remarkable book and in hardback, it really is something very special indeed. It has been described by writer and documentary-maker Manchán Magan as “an ebullient paean to our surrounding ecosystem – a sensuous celebration of nature.” Eoghan Daltun, author of An Irish Atlantic Rainforest, called it a “a hugely important, and simply delightful, book.”
Anja Murray is an ecologist, environmental policy analyst and broadcaster. As an expert on Ireland’s natural environment, Anja has been pioneering innovative and collaborative approaches to environmental conservation in Ireland for more than 20 years.
“It is easy to tune out from the simple wonders around us, dismiss them even as childish folly. Modern living provides us with with no end of demands and distractions; busy schedules, smartphones, mental clutter. It can be difficult to slow down and take notice…opening to the wild embrace can help us build emotional resilience, develop a deeper personal connection with the natural world, and empower us to engage positively with the critical issues.” – Anja Murray
